3d Ground Modelling

We are able to perform 3d ground modelling, specifically for the purpose of volumetric analysis and reconciliation. This is particularly valuable to construction processes that involve earthworks / muck shifting / general cut and fill operations. The ability to plan, monitor and quantify such movements is essential for the effective execution of construction projects.

In addition, our capabilities extend to include road volumes analysis. We can create 3d models based on proposed road designs, extracting information concerning the road geometry. These models can then be used to evaluate the associated earthwork quantities, as well as the subgrade material volumes required to form the road.

We can produce cross-sections, longitudinal sections and plan proposals for roadways.

CAD

With CAD skills refined over a number of years, we are able to produce a wide range of construction-related drawings, sketches and details.

Experience has been gained in producing topographical survey drawings, as built drawings, proposed design drawings, existing plan layouts, combined services drawings, drawing conversion & vectorisation.

We can offer services spanning most mainstream construction activities - Our managing director has had a career that has developed from setting out engineer through to technical operations manager. This has provided practical exposure to a wide range of duties and applications.

General site management, setting out, site measurement, commercial skills, negotiation, business development, programming... the list goes on.

We have further skills in presentation and image promotion through quality of submission as well as experience of working within rigid quality control procedures.

Our Managing Director has delivered presentations and lectures at a number of leading universities and has developed solutions for global clients.

THE BOSS

Stevie began his professional career in 1999; where following some initial exposure to the Public Sector, he began working for private Civil Engineering firms and became involved in Infrastructure, Heavy Civils, and Public Realm projects.

A return to the Public Sector saw Stevie involved in the development of standards and policies, and utilising more management skills. Here, he progressed to achieve the position of Network Manager, responsible for over 2,300km of roads and over 880 bridges within a multi-authority setting.

McCafferty Consultancy was established in early 2010, in response to many of the challenges brought about by the difficult economic times facing the industry, and has continued to provide valuable services to a broad range of clients ever since.

Formed in 2010 and managed by Stevie McCafferty, MCL benefits from a lifetime's worth of technical skills coupled with practical experience. We are highly proficient in all office software, CAD software, project management, graphics & design software.

We utilise the latest technologies to ensure that we deliver projects that are of a high technical quality, accurate, and efficiently produced. We have continuously invested in our IT and applications, to make sure that we remain at the forefront of technical capability.

With over twenty years of experience in the construction industry, from field-level site work to management positions, gained in both private and public sectors, we are experienced in roads and infrastructure, housing, utilities and civil engineering projects - ranging from a few thousand to multi-million pound value.

We carry professional indemnity insurance to the value of £500,000, and public liability insurance to the value of £2,000,000

Stevie is a previous Young Scientist of the Year prize winner, holds a degree in Construction Management and is a Fellow of the IHE, a member of the CIOB, and of the IET.
